Citizenship Bingo Objectives: The student will be able to: · Define key vocabulary words pertaining to voting and elections recall quickly the term which fits a given definition · Remain on task in order to compete the game Materials and Resources: Activity 1 Citizenship Bingo cards, paper chips to mark cards, vocabulary list with definitions, small prizes or reward system Activities: Activity 1 Citizenship Bingo The scope of the vocabulary taught to any one group is dependent upon the age and maturity of the students and the thoroughness with which the election process will be taught in the classroom. Citizenship Bingo can be adapted to any situation or age group. The empty cards may be fitted with simple words or even icons for younger or slower learners. The best way to adapt the vocabulary list is to take the words directly from the material the teacher intends to teach. The list provided is included simply as a guide: however, it is a fairly comprehensive list for upper elementary students. Vocabulary must be taught before the game is effective: however after that time, the game may be repeated as often as necessary or desired.
