A Patriotic Landscaping Project
Rene and Len Holliman, and their son Austin, recently undertook a Patriotic Landscaping Project at The American Village. As owners of Holliman Gardens in Gordo, Alabama (www.hollimangardens.com) they raise and sell a wide variety of beautiful daylilies. Renee and Len generously donated to The Village sixty-four daylily plants named "American Freedom". On Monday, August 22, 2011, the three Hollimans arrived at The Village and spent several hours tilling the soil and constructing flower beds on each side of the Village's replica of The Old North Bridge as a permanent location for the daylilies that will be in full bloom next spring. Adjacent to The Old North Bridge was an ideal location for the daylilies given that American Freedom began on April 19, 1775, when American militiamen fired "the shot heard 'round the world" at the historic bridge, thus beginning The American Revolution.
