Severe Weather Procedures:

As part of the American Village’s Safety Plan, the following steps are to be taken in the event of severe weather.

All outdoor programs will be suspended if thunder can be heard within the vicinity. Outdoor programs may not resume until 30 minutes has expired from the time thunder was last heard.

The American Village maintains warning-activated weather radios to monitor official statements and warnings by the National Weather Service.  If severe weather is in the area, a member of the American Village safety staff will sound an air horn warning and make an announcement on the intercom/phone system. All visitors will be directed to immediately move inside the nearest building. When the severe weather has passed, an all clear announcement will be made on the intercom/phone system and outdoor activities may resume.
