Public Programs

The American Village will be closed to the public August 2-23 for professional development and campus maintenance. The public program will resume on August 24.
The Independence Hall Experience is the heart of the public program.
Step into history and witness the birth of a nation!
This state-of-the-art, interactive experience uses cutting-edge technology and special effects to fully immerse visitors in the fight for independence. This docent-led experience begins in the West Wing of Independence Hall, where the tension of colonial unrest builds, and an original short film brings the chaos of revolution to life. Then, step into a one-of-a-kind encounter where voices from all walks of life passionately share their views on independence—in a way you’ve never seen before, but we won’t spoil the surprise. Finally, take your seat with the 2nd Continental Congress and find yourself right in the middle of the heated debate that would shape a new nation.
Independence awaits… how will you decide?
The Independence Hall Experience is offered at 10am, 11am, 12pm, 1pm, and 2pm during regular operating hours. Total tour time is 1 hour and 20 minutes.
The Independence Hall Experience is included in your regular admission to American Village. No separate ticket needed. You will receive a wristband when you pay admission, with the tour time of your choice.
In addition to the Independence Hall Experience, guests will enjoy visiting the President’s Oval Office, exploring the Randall Museum, touring the National Veteran’s Shrine, and seeing Concord Bridge. The Merchants’ Coffee House is open for snacks, a lunch break or just hot and cold teas and coffees.
Each day’s schedule will also include a variety of vignettes with the American Village staff of costumed historical interpreters, portraying patriots of the past.
