Docent Opening
The American Village in Montevallo, AL is seeking to hire a part-time Docent. This position is a front-line public engagement role in assisting visitors to American Village’s campus and program facilities and reports to the Officer of Interpretation and the Deputy Officer of Interpretation. Primary functions include conducting guided tours of the American Village campus for groups of all ages. Other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Independence Hall Costumed Guide Opening
Calling all performers! The American Village is excited to debut our new program, Independence, this fall! This program is staged in our state-of- the- art replica of Independence Hall in Philadelphia, and utilizes immersive, multi-media elements to take visitors on America’s journey to declaring independence from Britain. Each tour group will be led by its own costumed guide through the experience, and this is where we need you! So here is what you can expect:
Are the guides 18th Century people? Yes
Will guides have to “dress up in those costumes?” Yes!
Will guides have to activate various pieces of technology and interact with characters who are pre-recorded on video? Yes!
